      Students who are receiving financial support from the department are expected to register for a minimum course load each fall and spring semester of their appointment.
Half-time Graduate Assistants
M.S. students should take 9 hours minimum in courses suitable for their program of study.

Pre-Comp PhD students (i.e. those who have passed the Ph.D. Candidacy Review but have not yet taken the Ph.D. Comps) should take 7 hours minimum in courses suitable for their program of study.

Post-Comp Ph.D. students should take at least 4 hours of seminars and/or 22S:299. (Recall that Ph.D. students are required to take at least 18 s.h. of 22S:299.)

Quarter-time Graduate Assistants
M.S. students should take 6 hours minimum in courses suitable for their program of study.

Ph.D. students should take 4 hours minimum in courses suitable for their program of study.

Paper Graders who have quarter-time appointments should take a minimum of 6 s.h. in courses suitable for their program of study. Graders with less than quarter-time appointments must be registered, but have no minimum s.h. requirement.

During a semester where a student is preparing for an impending M.S. or Ph.D. Final (Comprehensive) Exam (e.g., the fall semester when the comps are in January), a 4-s.h. minimum is applied.
