The goal of the Computer Support Group (CSG) is to provide a stable, secure, productive computer environment that allows the Departments of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics and Actuarial Science to achieve its educational, research and administrative needs. This includes the basic network infrastructure and computing environment for the state of the art UNIX, Windows or Macintosh workstations used in labs, faculty offices or research projects. CSG supports managed Windows and Linux loads, file services (including backup), departmental and personal web hosting, mail, public printers, account creation/maintenance, DNS, DHCP, helpdesk, authentication electronic door locks, and a hot disaster recovery site for core services. When possible, please email your question or problem to request@divms.uiowa.edu.
The UNIX (Linux) Lab, located in 346 Schaeffer Hall and supported by CSG, provides an up-to-date learning experience for departmental majors and students who have UNIX accounts. In the lab, students can use powerful graphic-oriented computational software on UNIX workstations to explore statistical concepts. Departmental majors should receive a UNIX account upon enrolling in the program. Departmental faculty can also request accounts for students enrolled in courses they teach. The lab is also open to students and faculty in the departments of Computer Science and Mathematics. Students who have a UNIX account may create their own personal web pages.

ITCs are located in 26 locations on campus, comprising a network of over 1000 workstations available for student use. Wherever you are on the University of Iowa campus, there is an ITC nearby to meet your technology needs!
