NOTE: Notify Margie Ebert (margie-ebert@uiowa.edu or 335-2082) in advance, if you decide not to take an exam (MFE OR MLC only) for which you are registered.
For those taking MFE and MLC please follow the directions below:
- Candidates should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the examination, but do not enter the room until told to do so.
- Only beverages are permitted in the examination room. Consumption of food is prohibited except for medical situations where the SOA has provided authorization.
- Cell phones must be turned off and set aside and out of the candidate's view prior to the start of the exam. Cell phones that are left out and visible may be confiscated. In the event that a candidate's phone should ring during an exam, the supervisor must report it and this may result in disqualification.
- Candidates are required to remain in the examination room for a minimum of two hours.
- Writing before or after time will result in disqualification..
- Candidates must bring:
- Ticket of Admission or Acknowledgement Letter received by the SOA
- picture ID with signature (eg, your driver's license)
- several sharpened #2 pencils and a good eraser
- approved calculator(s)
- CALCULATOR RULE -- Candidates may use the following models of Texas Instruments (battery or solar) calculators. Use of an unauthorized calculator will result in the examination being disqualified.
- BA-35
- BA II Plus
- BA II Plus Professional
- TI-30Xa
- TI-30XS MultiView
- TI-30XB MultiView
- TI-30X IIS
- TI-30X IIB
Calculator instructions cannot be brought into the examination room. During the examination, the calculator must be removed from its carrying case so the supervisor can confirm it is an approved model.
The memory of TI-30X II (IIS solar or IIB battery) and the TI-30XS Multiview, TI-30XB MultiView and the BA II Plus, BA II Plus Professional will need to be cleared by the examination supervisor upon the candidate's entrance to the exam room. This will reset the BA II Plus and the BA II Plus Professional back to the factory default settings. Failure to clear or allowing the use of an unauthorized calculator will result in disqualification.
Extra backup calculators will no longer be available at the examination sites. Candidates are encouraged to bring a spare approved calculator and additional batteries to the examinations.
